या वेळचे आपले छायाचित्रकार आहेत अद्वैत कुलकर्णी.  पक्ष्यांच्या छायाचित्रणाविषयी बोलताना ते म्हणतात की या प्रकारच्या छायाचित्रणासाठी आत्यंतिक संयम व तंत्रज्ञानावरची हुकमत या दोन्ही गोष्टी कामी येतात. आपले गुरू, पुण्यातील फर्गसन  महाविद्यालयातील प्राध्यापक चंद्रशेखर बापट यांच्याकडून अद्वैत  छायाचित्रणाचे कसब व फिल्म प्रोसेसिंग शिकले.  एमबीए झाल्यानंतर नोकरीनिमित्त सध्या ते ऑस्ट्रेलियात आहेत.  तेथेही त्यांनी  नोकरी सांभाळत आपला हा छंद विकसित केला आहे. या वेळच्या मुखपृष्ठावरचा पक्षी आणि त्याला कॅमेर्‍यात पकडण्याचा क्षण या विषयी अद्वैत सांगताहेत…  

Eastern spinebill

While exploring walking trails west of Brisbane, I came across a lot of native bushes. These native bushes flower in spring and provide an important food source for the honeyeaters. Eastern spinebill is a small honeyeater that feeds on small insects and nectar from the native flowers. The bird is widespread in the eastern parts of Australia. 

In this photo we can see their fine, long and curved beak which helps them suck the nectar from a wide variety of flowers. The sugar rich diet allows them to be very active and constantly move from one branch to another, which makes it very hard to photograph them. Usually when feeding the birds are not bothered by human presence, and this allowed me to get up close to the bird. In order to get the whole bird in focus, I had to photograph it from a side angle  and this allowed me to get both the eye and the long beak in focus.
